Maglev and tiny village tour B

At the Maglev exhibition center, you will watch test runs of superconductive maglev trains, a next-generation bullet train. The outlines of the maglev system and Linear Chuo Shinkansen are presented with models and various exhibits.
Your next destination is Kosuge, a village abundant with nature including a number of huge trees. As Kosuge river runs through the central village, you can experience seasonal nature and life of a mountainous community.

Maglev exhibition center

It is a place where you can see maglev trains running on the Yamanashi maglev test tracks and learn about the outlines of superconductive maglev and the Chuo Shinkansen from various models and displayed items in order to be familiar with superconductive maglev train that is supposed to be the next-generation high-speed train.

Saruhashi

Saruhashi, a scenic beauty, is a bridge crossing a beautiful valley over the Katsuragawa River. It does not have any piers and is simply supported by four arrays of cantilever beams protruding from the both banks.

Kazunogawa power plant

Kazunogawa dam is a dam built on the Tsuchimurogawa river, a tributary of the Kazunogawa river that has water from the Sagami river system in Otsuki-city, Yamanashi prefecture. It is an 105.2 meters tall concrete gravity dam that creates a lower reservoir for “Kazunogawa Power Plant” that is a large-scale pumped storage power station. The dam reservoir (artificial lake) is called “Matsuhime Lake”.

Matsuhime tunnel

The Matsuhime Tunnel is a mountain pass that extends between Kosuge-mura in Kita-tsuru-city and Otsuki-city in Yamanashi prefecture. It is located 1,250m above sea level. The tunnel was named after Matsuhime, who was a daughter of Shingen Takeda, a military commander of the Sengoku period, because it is believed that she went over the pass to escape from the army of Nobunaga Oda.

Kosuge village

Kosuge-mura is a village with profound nature where you can enjoy mountainous scenery throughout the year looking at the Kosuge river that runs through the middle of the village and giant trees.
