Visit Fuji Sengen Shrine, a historical spot “Umagaeshi,” Okuniwa Nature Park, and Mt. Fuji 5th station where you may command “Sea of Cloud.”
Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Asama Shrine is one of the Asama shrines that is deeply related to Mt. Fuji worship. It is a prestigious shrine with a long history that includes Yamato Takeru. It is located at the start point of the Yoshidaguchi trail that has been used for Mt. Fuji worship since ancient times.
In ancient times, the hiking route of Mt. Fuji got rough from Uagaeshi and, therefore, hikers had to get off their horses to go ahead. There are many stone monuments related to Fujiko (devotional Fuji confraternities) in Umagaeshi that help us take a peek at the history.
It is a garden park filled with profound nature located near the forest limit of Mt. Fuji. The park has trees, such as larches and Northern Japanese hemlocks, that are over 700 years of age, and plants like lingonberries as well as various sizes of craters.
It is the end point of the toll road on Mt. Fuji, “Fuji Subaru Line”. The station serves as the base of the Yoshidaguchi trail and offers a variety of shops, in addition to the magnificent view at 2305 meters above sea level.
